Padding (72/100)
The multi-layered foam technology used in the Hayabusa T3 Series gloves was created expressly to provide improved knuckle protection. This particular design seeks to uniformly spread the shock over the glove, protecting the user’s hand from the force of the contact. The cushioning was first thought to be a little stiff, although it appeared to decay more quickly for people who workout hard. The padding’s integrity was weakened after repeated usage, making the gloves less appropriate for sparring. They nonetheless worked well for bag and pad work. Punches didn’t have a harsh hit or a lot of bounce because to the padding’s density; instead, it seemed like the knuckles were slowly sinking in to absorb the blow.
Glove Fit (75/100)
The hand compartment provided a comfortable fit without being excessively tight, and the grip bar was well positioned. Overall, the fit of the T3 Series was characterized as supportive. Although some users felt as though they were punching with their fingers, there were problems with fist formation. This may be a serious issue, particularly during rigorous training sessions when good fist formation is essential to avoid injury.
Inner-Lining Comfort (76/100)
There was some debate about the T3 Series’ interior. It was praised for being sufficiently comfortable without being unduly harsh or synthetic, and the addition of silver traces for their antibacterial characteristics was a nice touch. Ironically, the design of the liner, which was intended to stop sweat from penetrating the foam, made the gloves take longer to dry. This made the inside lining of the gloves one of the more criticized parts, along with the odor that persisted and was unable to be removed after continuous wear.
Exterior Material (71/100)
Skepticism greeted Hayabusa’s decision to use ‘Vylar’ engineered leather for the T3 Series. Hayabusa says the leather, which is marketed as VYLAR®-2 Engineered leather, “proved superior” in terms of “flexibility and surface abrasion, to tear and crack resistance.” They don’t say what it proved to be superior to, though. Many purists think that full-grain cowhide leather is always superior for boxing gloves, notwithstanding the virtues of Vylar. Despite the material’s resistance to wear and tear, the synthetic nature of the material was a source of debate, especially when taking into account the glove’s price. A somewhat interesting choice on this glove is the use of microfiber on the thumb area (seen in the picture below). Although it may have some use as a way to reduce sweat while training, using microfiber on the exterior of a boxing glove is not the best choice in terms of longevity.
Stitching Quality (68/100)Â
The T3 Series’ construction quality was uneven. Although the Vylar exterior endured well and showed no obvious damage even after heavy usage, there were issues with the stitching. Users have reported that with time, the stitching in certain places started to unravel, which might eventually jeopardize the structural integrity of the glove. It’s very disappointing that the level of quality is not higher given the nearly $200 price point. Then again, the overuse of stitching to make the glove look ‘cool’ naturally leads to higher odds of stitching issues.
Wrist Support (81/100)
The wrist support of the T3 Series, in especially the DUAL-X closing mechanism, was one of its most notable characteristics. The danger of injuries was decreased by the special double strap design, which increased wrist stability. Some customers noticed that they needed to tighten the velcro straps more and more in order to maintain the same amount of support over time, suggesting a possible decline in the strap’s efficiency. Additionally, complaints indicated that the DUAL-X clasp frequently became entangled with hand wraps when the gloves were put on, which might be a major annoyance.
Sparring Suitability (73/100)
The T3 Series gloves are generally well-liked for sparring. It is very helpful to have the wrist support provided by the DUAL-X double strap system, which helped to ensure that punches landed on the proper portion of the knuckles. The gloves’ initial rigidity and the soreness experienced throughout the break-in phase, however, are issues. Concerns regarding the gloves’ long-term viability for sparring arise from the padding’s approaching end of life.
Heavy-Bag Suitability (76/100)
In terms of heavy bag work, the gloves performed reasonably well. In order to ensure perfect hand alignment during punches, the double strap system supplied the required support. However, similar to sparring, the padding’s deteriorating integrity with time was a worry, particularly for those who exercise diligently.
Hayabusa T3 Gloves Overview
The Hayabusa T3 Series gloves, while packed with innovative features like the Vylar engineered leather, multi-layered foam technology for knuckle protection, and the DUAL-Xâ„¢ double strap closure system, seem to have missed the mark in certain crucial areas. Although they provide a reasonable value for novices or those searching for a less expensive option to more expensive gloves, their durability and general quality, particularly considering their price point, might be better.
